A Conversation with Ken Rust, The “Sage of Aquaponics”.

Talking to Ken Rust is like talking to a sage. In fact, if I had to crown anyone as the “sage of aquaponics”, it would be Ken. For more than 30 years, Ken has worked in most all areas aquaculture including fisheries management, lake and pond management, recirculating aquaculture, and marketing. But the thing that makes Ken a sage is the combination of his knowledge coupled with his practical thinking and his heart for all people…especially communities in need. Coincidentally, we have both launched aquaponics projects in Haiti. Coincidence? Probably not…Ken Rust

We first met Ken at an Aquaponics Association Conference, I believe in 2021. We immediately hit it off when discussing the importance and potential of using aquaponics as an educational tool for STEM, workforce development, students with special needs, and inmates in corrections. His company, Enterprise Aquatics, provides aquaponic systems, training, and consulting for farms schools. He also plays a key role in promoting aquaponics through talks, podcasts, and workshops.

We invite you to listen to a conversation between Ken and I about education and aquaponics on his Sustainable Aquaponics Podcast. Also, please visit his website https://enterpriseaquatics.com to connect with him and learn about the great work they do.
